SFGate - GOP Senate candidate in Oklahoma speaks of 'rampant' lesbianism in schools
The Republican Senate candidate in Oklahoma warns of "rampant" lesbianism in some schools in the state in a tape released Monday by his Democratic opponent.
The remark by Republican Tom Coburn drew a skeptical response from state educators.
"I don't believe that," said Keith Ballard, executive director of the Oklahoma State School Boards Association. He said the group's attorneys "haven't said anything to me about that."
In the tape released by the campaign of Brad Carson, the Democratic candidate, Coburn says a campaign worker from Coalgate told him that "lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue. How is it that that's happened to us?"
The entry from the Democratic blog site MyDD ranks the open Oklahoma senate seat as the third most likely seat to be captured by Democrats. The entry for the lazy (bold added to point up the fucked up parts):
This open seat race is really up in the air. Carson and Coburn are quite the contrast as well. The Club for Growth is investing heavily into the ideological Coburn. Every poll in this race, most conducted by partisan outfits, show a dead heat. In many cases, undecideds are around 20%. Coburn has been somewhat scandal plagued, including offensive statements about Native-Americans in a state with an enormous Native American population and allegations that he sterilized several women without their permission. A DSCC poll in mid-September, the height of Coburn’s troubles, showed his favorable ration drop from +26 to +7. Also, through July 7th, Carson held a 4:1 advantage in fundraising, with nearly $2M cash on hand, compared with about $400K for Coburn. Carson, who has run as a conservative, is slightly favored.
The first amazing thing: That crazy bastard Coburn is still somehow tied with Carson. The second amazing thing: The Democratic candidate is a fucking conservative with serious financial backing... on the fucking Democrat ticket? Is the Republican party in OK so fucked up that real conservatives use the Democratic ticket? (You they still exist, even though the neo-cons have done their best to kill them off.) Is the Democratic party becoming what the Republican party once was while the Republican party swings far right and straight into crazyville? Or was OK always this fucked up?
